PRF Filler at Sculpt MD

At Sculpt MD in Livermore, CA, our medical providers offer revolutionary regenerative treatments for facial skin rejuvenation. Case in point? PRF Fillers. PRF stands for platelet-rich fibrin, an innovative treatment that calls on the body’s natural regenerative capacity to restore firmer, more youthful skin.

What is PRF filler?

You have probably heard of PRP – platelet-rich plasma. Continued advancements in the autologous blood concentrate technology that created PRP has yielded the next generation: PRF, or Platelet-rich fibrin. By spinning blood at a lower G force than what is used to obtain PRP, the cell scaffolding – fibrin – is preserved within PRF’s plasma solution along with white blood cells and mesenchymal stem cells that increase the rejuvenation benefits you receive during treatment.

PRF Filler is one of three PRF treatments offered at Sculpt MD. Unlike dermal fillers that are synthetically derived, PRF Filler is an all-natural, autologous biostimulating and volumizing gel that is obtained from your own blood to improve your skin’s tone and texture while treating the appearance of dark under eye circles, volume loss, fine lines and wrinkles on the face.

What is the procedure?

For a PRF filler treatment, a medical provider extracts a small blood sample and then separates it into its plasma, platelet, and fibrin components. The PRF solution is then separated and subjected to a controlled cooling and heating process to create a natural gel filler rich with leukocytes, growth factors, and an intermolecular bond naturally formed during the heating process.

The prepared PRF gel filler can be injected into multiple areas of the face for volume and extended biostimulation, including under the eyes, upper cheeks, and nasolabial folds.

PRF filler is loaded with proteins and growth factors which stimulate the natural production of elastin and collagen in treated areas and includes white blood cells that fight infection and speed up the body’s healing response time.

One of the most impressive benefits of PRF fillers is that this preparation and application allows for the prolonged release of growth factors and elastin to enhance the repair and rejuvenation of skin quality to improve texture, tone, fine lines, wrinkles, the appearance of dark circles and more over the coming weeks.

Your treatment experience

When you come to our luxurious Livermore offices for your PRF filler treatment, we will harvest a sample of your blood from which to create the PRF filler. The blood sample is then processed in a slow-moving centrifuge, which separates out the plasma, platelets, white blood cells, growth factors, and fibrin. This filler contains a higher volume of growth factors, leukocytes, and mesenchymal stem cells.

Procedure FAQ's

How long does it take for PRF injections to work?

Initial results can be seen immediately, with continuing improvements that appear for 3-6 months.

How long will the results last?

For patients who complete a series of 3 PRF Filler treatments one month apart, results can last for up to 1 year. It is recommended that after completing your first series of treatments to return for re-treatment every 6-12 months.

How should I prepare for a PRF filler treatment?

Hydrate and have a snack before your blood is drawn. Don’t take any blood-thinning medications or supplements for the week prior to your treatment. Do not drink any alcohol for three days prior.

What is the difference between PRP and PRF?

PRF is plasma-rich fibrin, while PRP is plasma-rich platelets. PRP is spun at a higher speed, separating out the platelets, which are then injected. PRF is spun at a slower speed, which causes the white cells, stem cells and platelets to be a part of the substance that is injected into the tissues.

Are there any side effects?

Just like any injectable treatment, there may be redness, minor swelling, and bruising. In some cases, there may be a headache. These side effects generally pass within a few days at most.
